WHAT'S THE CONTEXT?

Msi is a top-end gaming hardware company who provides world-wide gamers and creators with most innovative rigs and technologies for their needs. However, they would like to diversify product lines to satisfy a wide range of consumers.

CHALLENGE

Designed an IoT product application across multiple digital devices for a wifi-camera that helps people connect with their place remotely.  

AIMS

  • Strengthen the relationships between family members

  • Safeguard people’s house and mitigate unexpected issues.

  • Share recordings with friends and family.

WHY IS THE PROBLEM?

Most WiFi Camera in the Market were not accessible on the mobile phone.

 

Lacked of interactive functionality  and didn’t support motion detection

Low camera resolution

OUTCOME

Increased our revenue from non-gaming product lines by 10%.


 

Got a substantial number of orders.


 

90% of users satisfied with the product and found it intuitive to use.

USABILITY TESTING

Test all of UX flow based on heuristic evaluation

Phone parking - Group mode

We prototyped a focus mode in a group setting  by creating a paper parking lot for a team to place their phones on while doing group work. They were allowed to use their phones only if all agreed to it. We tracked the frequency of breaks and interviewed them after for feedback. 

 

Puzzle post its - Nudges 

To test if creating conscious decisions would help people re-evaluate whether checking their phone frequently is actually necessary, we created a prototype of small puzzles. The puzzles, riddles, math calculations and mazes were stuck as post-it notes on the

Human algorithm - Analysis 

To test our idea of a personal analysis phase we prototyped by asking for users phone consumption data (Quality Time app) and information about their daily activities. Then, we analyzed this data by algorithms

Awareness of Digital Wellness

 

People have awareness of excessive use of their digital devices and some of them have specific ritual to help them reduce the media consumption or stay away from the unconscious scrolling. However, breaking a bad habit can not change over night.

Autopilot System

Many people mentioned digital devices strike their focus and they are not able to control properly.  However, they want to have a ownership to tailor their own rhythm of media consumption and autopilot it.
